Marvin Schiller has extensive knowledge and experience in litigating class actions and other complex cases. Local Governmental Retirement System, the Teachers’ & State Employees’ Retirement System of North Carolina, Merrill Lynch, Branch Bank & Trust Company, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the City of Raleigh Housing Authority.
Landmark North Carolina Class Action Case
Marvin established himself as a force in North Carolina class action cases with the filing of Simpson v. N.C. Local Governmental Retirement System in 1985. After Marvin won a landmark appeal in 1987, Simpson settled four years later in 1991. Over 400 disabled Simpson firefighters, law enforcement officers, sheriff deputies, and other local government retirees in towns and cities throughout North Carolina shared in class action settlement proceeds of $4.3 million and many hundreds more retirees have since received increased monthly retirement benefits totaling around $25 million.

A Martindale-Hubbell November 7, 1991 letter states: Marvin Schiller has been "awarded the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory's . . .
